LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: As Florida House Tax Cut Package Passes, Florida CCIM Chapter Calls For Push For Business Rent Tax Cut

The Florida House passed a $1 Billion Tax Cut package on Thursday that included a 2% reduction of the Business Rent Tax.

The Florida CCIM Chapter and Florida Realtors will be sending out tweets to thank the House, leadership and bill sponsor for supporting this priority, and are thanking Chapter members for getting involved.

“Please take this opportunity to retweet and thank our legislators for responding to the Florida Realtors and the broad business coalition that we have assembled to push the phase out of this tax cut across the finish line!, shared Carrie O’Rourke, Vice President of Policy for the Florida Realtors.

“After years of working toward eliminating the sales tax on commercial leases, our focus now turns to working on phasing out this tax over time, the South Florida CCIM explains.

“Florida is the only state that imposes this tax and it is widely recognized to be a deterrent to business coming into the State of Florida and a hardship on small businesses.  Currently we have gained momentum in this effort, and, the House has passed a bill that includes a reduction of this Business Rent Tax of 1% in 2017 and an additional 1% in 2018,” Bruck adds.

2016 Florida CCIM Chapter President Chere Roane thanked Bruck for leading the charge with chapter members and echoed the Bruck’s Call to Action.

“House Bill 7099 is an incredible start toward our goals.  We continue to encourage our members to show their support in both the House and Senate for this tax cut as both chambers head into conference over the next few weeks to negotiate the final budget, ” Roane said, adding, “Now each of you are asked to contact your legislator IMMEDIATELY to seek support for this 2% reduction.  PLEASE…MAKE THAT CALL NOW!”

This Call for Action will only take two minutes.
