Florida CCIM Chapter Leads Donation of Memorial Fund Established Honoring Bob Ward

Photo of Bob WardThe Florida Chapter is working with The CCIM Institute and the CCIM Foundation in honoring Bob Ward, by supporting the establishment of the “Robert L. Ward CCIM Memorial Fund”. This fund will be to honor the memory of Mr. Ward and his over forty years of involvement at the CCIM Institute as an instructor, a course developer, volunteer member in governance and Past President. Bob Ward died in Oviedo in late 2015.

The Florida Chapter has committed to a $2,000 donation toward this fund, according to Chere Roane, 2016 President. “We are honored to have had Bob Ward as a Chapter member for nearly 40 years,” explains Roane. “We believe he truly showed us what it meant to be a CCIM, to be the Best of the Best,” she adds.

The CCIM Foundation recently reported they are reviewing how the funds will be used and expect to make an announcement soon. “In the interim, for those seeking to make a donation in his memory, an account has been created. Donations can be made electronically here or checks can be made out to and sent to: CCIM Foundation, 430 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 801, Chicago, IL 60611 with “Bob Ward CCIM Memorial” in the memo line,” explains Foundation Manager Kristin O’Connor.

The CCIM Foundation’s immediate past president, Robin Webb, states “Bob had a formidable grasp of commercial real estate education and a tremendous heart for the Institute. His contributions are woven into our curriculum throughout our courses. His brilliance and wit will be severely missed. The CCIM Foundation is honored to be able to assist in the coordination of donations made in the recognition of Bob Ward.”

O’Conner also explained that donations can be made by credit card via use of the CCIM Foundation’s “Give Now” platform. There is a special button on the donation page to designate the funds to the Robert L. Ward CCIM Memorial Fund, she adds.

O’Conner reports that almost immediately after Bob Ward died, a challenge was begun with messages on the “CCIM Connect” network whereby Chapters agreed to support such an endeavor by way of making donations. To date we have commitments from several private individuals as well as the following chapters:

  • Florida CCIM Chapter ($2,000)
  • North Carolina CCIM Chapter ($500) – with a $500 match from the Blanton Fund
  • Indiana CCIM Chapter ($500)
  • North Texas CCIM Chapter ($500)
  • Iowa CCIM Chapter ($500)
  • Connecticut CCIM Chapter ($500)
  • Central Arizona CCIM Chapter ($500)
  • Alabama CCIM Chapter ($500)
  • Houston CCIM Chapter ($500)

“We sincerely hope you will agree that Bob was a huge influence as a leader in guiding the CCIM Institute into the organization that it has become today. Bob Ward’s involvement in the development of core curriculum and subsequently in the evolution of the Ward Center for Real Estate will always be remembered,” O’Conner explains.[.pullquote]
