Bev Larson, CCIM, Lahaina Realty, recently spent the morning with students of Florida Gulf Coast University’s Lutgert College of Business talking about the real estate business. A one-day class “Real Estate Fundamentals” is offered each semester to juniors and seniors and is for students who are pursuing a minor in real estate. The class provides an introduction to commercial and residential real estate market dynamics, the transaction process, development, as well as other career opportunities like appraisal, property management, etc.
Larson visited the students to open their eyes to the importance of Business Networking, obtaining a Real Estate license, and of course becoming a REALTOR® and joining a REALTOR® Board. Students studying real estate at FGCU also take courses in Real Estate Law, Real Estate Valuation, Real Estate Investment Analysis, Real Estate Finance, and Real Estate Market Analysis.
Larson also promoted the value of the CCIM designation, along with fellow CCIM and university leader Tim Allen Ph.D., CCIM, Eminent Scholar and Alico Chair in Finance, Lutgert College of Business, Florida Gulf Coast University. Larson is the Florida CCIM Chapter’s Vice President of Operations for 2016 and has held many leadership positions at the Southwest District and Florida Chapter level.
