On May 15th, Saunders Real Estate represented the Seller and Buyer of the Monterey Mushroom Plant in Zellwood. Rick Gonzalez, CCIM, David Hungerford, CCIM, and Joey Hungerford helped put the deal together over the past few months.
The Buyer, Amerigo Farms, has a mission to be one of the most significant horticultural companies in America. They currently have operations in Canada, South Carolina, and Apopka. Several years back they acquired the Plowboys nursery on Berg Drive in Apopka which was in very bad shape and transformed that space into a nursery that is now filled with state of the art greenhouses and an extremely efficient operation.
The Seller is consolidating their operations to newer more efficient locations.
This privately held, third generation nursery operation is quietly producing very high quality plants, including the Calla Lily, and distributing them throughout the continent. They plan to raze the mushroom plant site and expand their operations here. With time, their nursery looks forward to finding a way to cooperate with the new high school, which is planned for next door, thereby growing local talent to continue Apopka’s thriving horticultural industry.
This transaction required in depth research regarding ongoing environemntal issues related to the property and Rick’s prior experience as an environemntal consultant proved valuable. Over a period of about 5 months David and Rick negotiatied 5 contract addendums with the Seller and the Buyer. These negotiating skills demonstrate how CCIMs stand above the crowd when it comes to commercial real estate transactions.
