Core Classes and More Around Florida Keep Designation Goals Top of Mind

When considering Commercial Real Estate educational programs, CCIM is second to none and this year the FL Chapter has hit the ground running. Twelve core courses are offered throughout FL in 2019, thereby providing members ample opportunity to begin, continue, and complete their individual pursuit of the premier designation for Commercial Real Estate Practitioners.

The year started with CI 101 in Naples which hosted 31 students at classes and a social event that were closely coordinated by SW District President Bev Larsen. Those pursuing the Pin included students from Wisconsin, Colorado, Michigan, and New York. Students were extremely pleased with the quality of the instructors, Maryanne Mize and Laurens Nicholson. Bev has spent years developing professional relationships which translate to multiple sponsorships which reduced the cost to almost zero. Way to go Bev.

In February, Sage Andress, West District Education Chairman hosted 30 students for CI 102. Students came from throughout Florida and Maine, Arizona, Idaho, Washington, and British Columbia. Instructors Gary Ralston and Stan Gniadowski enhanced the educational experience by including appearances by seasoned professionals who relayed many tricks of the trade and insights regarding real world projects.

Also in February, Ben Brenner, Central District Education Chairman, hosted 35 students (see photo) for CI 103. Students from Manitoba, North Carolina, Louisiana, and Maine joined many Floridians to learn from two of the best Retail practitioners. The Queen of Retail, Cynthia Shelton joined Blaine Strickland to instruct students in how best to provide service to Retail clients. One highlight of the week was the social held at the M Bar in Winter Park where students got to mingle with many of Orlando’s elite while strolling amongst a Jay Leno quality car collection.

In March, Fort Lauderdale will host a CI 104 and has 18 students signed up so far. Students are coming from Maine, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, and Virginia as well as from throughout FL. Alec Pacella and Pius Leung will instruct students in how to pull together all they have learned into practical real world application of the many facets of the CCIM curriculum.

Later in March, as part of our statewide educational program and simultaneously promoting the CCIM Brand, the FL Chapter and the Panhandle District is hosting a CI 101 in Pensacola in March which will be taught by Pius Leung and Bill Moss. Fourteen students are committed and maybe more will show up in the coming week. The NW District President, David Monroe, has gotten a free classroom venue at the Pensacola Board of Realtors office and the local office of Beck Real Estate is hosting what will be a relaxing evening social event on March 19th. If you are in the area come on by.

Numerous opportunities remain in 2019 for you and your friends to pursue the Pin and or refresh your knowledge. Remember CCIM designees get significant discounts when they come back and take a Life after the Pin course. If you have not take a Core Course in several years you should come back to class. It will enhance your career and help you make more money.
